Healthy Tips for a Sedentary Lifestyle

Do you ever feel like most of your day is spent staring at a computer screen? Is your sedentary lifestyle causing your back and neck start to tense up?

If so, it might be time for a change. Balance all that sitting with some activity!

First, make sure that you're not sitting for extremely long periods at a time. Take a break by walking around. A small break each hour can help you be more productive and in the long-term be healthier. Each break can be as short as two to three minutes per hour. Also, try out some desk exercises to keep you from going stir crazy and get you on the right health track.

Of course, exercise - either at home or at the gym - is another path toward a healthy lifestyle! Just remember that you need to be consistent with your activity. Having a workout partner is an excellent way to stay motivated, increase accountability and challenge yourself to do more.

Make certain to get into a healthy eating routine. Eating breakfast is vital to your health. Also, eating more frequent, smaller meals is a more filling way to maintain healthy weight and lifestyle. Registered Dietician Liz Erker suggests three small meals and two small snacks each day. She also says that you've got to make dietary choices that work for you!

Your water intake can also greatly affect your mood. The more water you drink, the less tension, depression and confusion you experience. Surprisingly, it appears that there is no upper limit for this; the more water you consume, the better you feel! If eating more greens or working out is a struggle, Signature Medical Group has a team of nutritionists and trainers that can help you live a healthier, cleaner life.
