Endometrial/Uterine Biopsy

The endometrium is the lining of the uterus; an endometrial (or uterine) biopsy is a test that removes some of this tissue.

This type of biopsy is often performed to evaluate the cause of a problem such as abnormal uterine bleeding or post menopausal bleeding. Tissue samples from an endometrial/uterine biopsy will be sent to a lab for testing. Recovery, restrictions, and potential side effects will discussed prior to the procedure, but light spotting and uterine cramping are a common symptoms many women experience following an endometrial biopsy.
