Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Posted on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in General Health News

Signature Medical Group joins millions of individuals and groups around the nation in recognizing October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Breast cancer is the second most common kind of cancer in women, the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services says. About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point in their lives.

Many women can survive breast cancer if it's detected and treated early. A mammogram is a screening tool can help find breast cancer early when it's easier to treat.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a chance to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer.

At Signature Medical Group, we'd like to do our part. We encourage communities, organizations, families, and individuals to spread the word about mammograms and early detection of breast cancer.

You can trust our knowledgeable OB-GYNs and surgeons to give you the best care available for breast cancer.

Dr. Mindi Beahm of Independence Surgical Clinic, a division of Signature Medical Group, is now certified to perform Hidden Scar at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Mo. Hidden Scar is a surgical procedure that allows breast cancer patients to receive an incision that is less visible and more discreet than mastectomies and lumpectomies.
