Hi, my name is Dr. David Haueisen. I'm an orthopedic surgeon with a specialty in hand surgery.

Hand surgery is nice because it's very varied. We'll see all kinds of things from joint problems, nerve problems, tendon problems. A hand surgeon sees a wide variety of things that aren't usually addressed by a more typical orthopedic surgeon.

I think the more that patients have information about their condition, the more questions they have to ask us, it makes it better for all of us if they understand what the possible complications are of any procedure; what the pros and cons are of any particular procedure. And we try to go over that in detail: what our expected results are with any kind of operation.

We do most of our surgeries on outpatients. So we have an outpatient surgery center in our building and so the vast majority of our hand cases are done there. And so you're in and out relatively quickly. It's very efficient and patients have a very positive experience.
