Hi, I’m Dr. John Del Rosario. I am a rehab medicine specialist. I am with Rehab Medicine Specialists group - south county division.

I started my medical education in the University of the East in the Philippines where I’m from. I have grown up most of my life in St. Louis, actually. After graduating from medical school, I then spent four years of medical training: one year in Cincinnati, Ohio in internal medicine followed by three years specializing in rehabilitation training in New York, St. Vincent’s Hospital. And after that, I always planned to come back to St. Louis to raise my family - no other place to be.

It is a really gratifying field. I can’t imagine a better field to be in. And it’s also intellectually challenging because the field can be so wide-ranging. It can range from stroke rehab to spinal cord rehab to brain injury rehab to pain rehab. Also, you can do injections or other procedures such as EMGs and they can even branch out into sports medicine. So it’s a very wide-ranging field.

One particular area that interests me is acupuncture. And I’ve found that to be very interesting procedure to do. I love doing it. It’s very fun. And it’s just another tool in your toolbox. The more tools that you have to treat a patient, the better you are. So we have medicine specialist doctor who are very open to other alternative treatments such as this - not just the western-based medicine.

"I followed my father into the medical field and chose rehabilitation because it is a very positive field where your patients are always improving. My patients love to show off to our staff by coming back and showing us how well they are doing."
