About Thomas D. Kelley III MD, MS, FAAFP
Dr. Kelley grew up in Leawood, Kan., the oldest of six children, and graduated from Rockhurst High School. He then attended Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., where he received a bachlor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling. Following his undergraduate and graduate degrees, he returned home to attend the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed his training at Trinity Family Medicine Residency, which was located at the former Trinity Hospital in downtown Kansas City.
During residency, Dr. Kelley was recruited in 1998 by the late Dr. Richard Bowles to work in his office at Seaport Family Practice in Liberty, Mo. He has continued to work in the Liberty community, and thus has spent his entire professional career caring for patients in Liberty and the surrounding area.
Dr. Kelley has always taken a leadership role within the medical community. He is a past president of the Missouri Academy of Family Physicians. He has spoken at various meetings, as well as with state and national political figures about the challenges in healthcare today.
Dr. Kelley is married to Jennifer Kelley, MD. Jennifer is a faculty professor at Research Family Medicine Residency in Kansas City. They have three children, Anastasia, Brynne and Christopher. Not surprisingly, much of Dr. Kelley’s spare time involves his family and all their activities. However, he continues to be an avid runner and cyclist. He also enjoys reading, art and gardening.
Dr. Kelley is board-certified in family medicine. He likes all aspects of family medicine, particularly pediatrics, preventive medicine and sports medicine.
