My name is Dr. Radmila Samardzija and I'm a podiatrist at Associated Podiatrists, P.A., a division of Signature Medical Group. I specialize in all foot & ankle ailments and treat patients from age 0 to 100+. I also specialize in diabetic wound care.

I look at the whole patient. So I do watch them walk. I look at their shoe gear. I ask them about their daily life. It's really imperative in medicine to not just look at one little part of the body because you have to get a greater picture of what's going on in that person's life and how you can maximize their daily quality of life.

A lot of what we do is educating our patients on how to get themselves better. And there's a lot of conditions that, yes, they can be treated surgically, but what I always say is conservative treatment isn't going to have the same types of complications and side effects. So I do urge all of my patients to completely exhaust conservative care before they go into an operating room.

You might come in for one thing, but I'm going to look at the whole foot exam and I'm going to point things out and talk to you more about what's going on in your daily life and your routine to kind of get a better picture of who my patient is and what their daily life is like and what they need to be doing to maximize that lifestyle.

"Being an independent physician, I have the benefit of being able to spend more time with each patient and tailor a treatment plan best for the individual."
