About Michael J. Latteier MD

I became a part of Kansas City Bone & Joint Clinic in August 2016, but have been in practice since 2007.  I served three years active duty in the Air Force as an orthopedic surgeon, deploying to Afghanistan during that time. After my military service I spent an additional year of training in joint replacement surgery, completing a Joint Replacement Fellowship with Joint Implant Surgeons in Columbus, Ohio. During this year, I assisted in performing over 1,000 joint replacement surgeries.  I then took a position with Banner Medical Group in Phoenix, Arizona, where I spent 5 years as the joint replacement specialist in the group, before joining Kansas City Bone and Joint.

I am experienced in less invasive techniques including partial knee and anterior hip replacements.  I also specialize in treating patients who are experiencing problems with previous joint replacements or need revisions.  I am committed to understanding my patients’ concerns and finding the best possible options to restore their mobility, function and quality of life.

I am board-certified in orthopedic surgery, and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.  As a member of these national organizations, I remain active in keeping up with the latest research and cutting edge techniques.

I attended Dartmouth College for my undergraduate studies and the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California for medical school.  I completed my orthopedic surgery residency at Wayne State University in Detroit.

Although I find my work very rewarding, in my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing guitar, and biking.
