Vest, Sackman, James earn key AAOE roles

Three Signature Medical Group executives have been selected for prominent positions in the current term of the American Alliance of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE).

Jan Vest

Jan Vest, Signature chief executive officer, has been named past president of the AAOE for 2017-18 after serving as president in the previous term. He’ll also continue to serve on the board of directors.

Chad Sackman, chief operating officer at Signature, will also serve on the AAOE board. He was chairman of the benchmarking committee last year.

Joel James, Signature’s director of government and public affairs, has been re-elected as AAOE advocacy council chair.

Vest has been instrumental in building the stature of the AAOE, which includes more than 1,400 orthopaedic practice executives, administrators, physicians and their staff.

Chad Sackman

Sackman will help oversee the mission of AAOE by participating in strategic planning and making policy decisions.

Joel James

James will lead the council in promoting legislative and regulatory positions that will help orthopaedic practices and the doctors and patients they serve.

Vest, Sackman and James secured their positions at the AAOE’s annual conference in April in Indianapolis. At that conference, Vest turned over his post as AAOE president to Ron Chorzewski of Agility Orthopedics in Stoneham, Mass.

Chorzewski said he was looking forward to working with Vest, Sackman, James and the new AAOE team.

“AAOE would not be able to provide such great member benefits without the work of its volunteers,’’ Chorzewski said.

Signature Medical Group is composed of more than 130 independent physicians, providing treatment in orthopedics, OB/GYN, allergy, pediatrics, neurosurgery, colon and rectal issues, podiatry, primary care, surgical services, internal medicine, endocrinology, rheumatology, chiropractic care and psychology.

Doctors at SMG’s 31 practices see patients at more than 45 locations in the St. Louis, Kansas City and Bolivar, Mo., areas. SMG doctors perform more than 575,000 patient visits and deliver more than 3,000 babies annually.

Studies have shown that SMG doctors outperform others by providing care at 20 to 30 percent less cost with excellent quality outcomes.
